About
We are an all-volunteer registered
NJ 501c3 and NYS Non-Profit Organization
At Happy Homes Animal Rescue, we are dedicated to providing a loving, safe environment for homeless, unwanted, abandoned, and abused animals.
Our Mission
Happy Homes Animal Rescue’s mission is to provide a loving, safe environment for homeless, unwanted, abandoned or abused animals by any means necessary. We continuously help reduce the number of cats being euthanized in overcrowded shelters, as well as, rescue cats and kittens from the streets through TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return). With our hard work of caring for and finding forever homes for all our adoptable animals, we also aim to educate as many individuals as we can on the ever-growing animal population and the need to responsibly spay or neuter all companion animals.
Happy Homes Animal Rescue’s vision is a world where every animal is valued, properly cared for, happy, content and free from any danger due to homelessness. We simply care!
Happy Homes Animal Rescue, and all people associated with it, vow to treat all persons with respect and consideration: regardless of race or color, religion or creed, national origin, nationality, or ancestry, neither sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, marital status or domestic partnership status. We adopt equally to approved adopters!

We advocate for healthy social development
Animals are social creatures by nature and young animals in particular benefit from having a companion. We recommend that young animals are adopted in pairs or to a home with an existing young friendly pet. Please note bonded pairs will not be adopted separately.

We are committed to finding forever loving homes
We cater to animals in need through our foster home-based system. We review all adoption applications diligently to ensure all our animals go to exceptional loving homes and we always adopt responsibly

TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return)
We make an effort to trap, neuter and return in order to break the outdoor breeding cycle, reducing feral populations, to improve their chances of living their lives out successfully.

We partner with vets to give all our animals medical care
All our animals have been spayed/neutered, dewormed, given age-appropriate vaccinations, FIV/FELV and fecal tested and microchipped with lifetime registration.
Our Story
Our journey began many years ago when our founder was deeply touched by the love and resilience of her first cat, Payton (1995-2012). Inspired by Payton’s impact, she recognized the overwhelming number of stray cats and kittens in the New Jersey and New York area and felt compelled to act.
What started as rescuing more than 100 cats evolved into the establishment of Happy Homes in honor of Payton and since then we’ve saved thousands of animals. We invite you to join us in creating Happy Homes where both animals and humans are transformed by companionship.
What We Do
Our work focuses on three core services:
Rescue & Foster: We locate animals living in unsafe conditions or stressful shelter environments and place them in loving volunteer foster homes until adoption.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR): To help reduce feral populations and improve lives, we implement TNR programs, interrupting the breeding cycle and creating healthier colonies.
No-Kill Commitment: We operate as a no-kill organization, taking in animals from overwhelmed shelters and minimizing euthanasia whenever possible.
Please note: We are not a shelter, we solely operate as a well-established home-based rescue.
