Become a Volunteer Today!
Volunteering for Happy Homes Animal Rescue can be an extremely rewarding experience for animal lovers who wish to help us save lives. We pride ourselves in taking great care of our animals and matching them with the perfect adopters.
We depend on our amazing volunteers to make this happen. Fill out an application and we will do our best to answer all your questions. You can also contact us through our Contact form on this page. We have multiple opportunities to help with store cleaning volunteers, fostering, transporting and event volunteers.
We accept applications for cleaning volunteers and fosters, so if you’re interested in opening your home to a cat or kitten in need or spending time cleaning and caring for our animals, we would love to hear from you!
A general note about working with the public
As a volunteer, not only will you be interacting with animals of all ages, there are times when all positions inevitably interact with the public. Being able to communicate the basics of our operation in a friendly and courteous manner is key to being able to represent Happy Homes Animal Rescue well and get our furry friends adopted!
Cleaning and Feeding
One of our most important jobs is the kitties at our store locations require feeding and cleaning twice per day. The job includes feeding, providing fresh water, scooping the litter box, enclosure cleaning, handling the cats, and general clean-up such as sweeping, mopping and taking out the trash. (We will provide all training as we have a system in place that works well for us)
Cleaning/Feeding volunteers tend to be our eyes and ears on the daily health of our kitties. As such, additional activities include observing and communicating findings; appetite, elimination, and any noteworthy behavior or signs of illness to our rescue director.
Bonus! Kitty playtime and snuggles! Some cat experience is preferred.
Time Commitment is only 2 to 3 short hours of your time with either our morning or evening shifts.
We have a few locations you can volunteer at for your convenience.
Fostering
Fostering saves lives, and at Happy Homes Animal Rescue, we couldn’t do what we do without the compassion and commitment of our foster volunteers. Fosters provide a safe, loving, and temporary home for cats and kittens who are waiting for adoption. They follow care protocols and remain in contact with our director. Whether you’re fostering kittens, helping a mama cat raise her babies or giving a shy adult time to come out of their shell, fostering is one of the most impactful ways to support our mission. We provide all necessary supplies, including food, litter, and veterinary care. You provide the space, attention, and affection that helps our cats thrive.
Fosters must be at least 21 years old, live within 30 minutes of one of our adoption locations and be able to administer medications if needed (all training is provided, we will show you how). You’ll also need to have time each day to spend with your foster cat and be able to transport them to and from adoption events and occasional vet appointments.
After submitting a foster application, our director will reach out to schedule a foster interview. During that chat, we will learn more about what you hope to get from the experience, walk through your responsibilities, and go over the space you plan to use for fostering. Some animal experience is preferred.
Time Commitment is a minimum 3 weeks in home, with transport to and from adoption hours and other as needed.
